1)1868 Natives tried writing telling a bishop that the land they were using was rightfully theirs
2)1870 Around this time archaeologists stated that this land did indeed belong to them
3)1977 They officially signed a document to the government of Canada petitioning them for their land
4) 1986 Native land claim was objected and the land was not given to them
5) Early March the Mayor of Oka stated that that the golf course should get underway in a few weeks
6)Mohawk first nations stayed in the forest to protect it from the construction peoples.
7) April 5, 1990- They were told that they had illegal land claims and that they would have to get off the land.
8)July 1990 armed first nations blocked a road leading on to the town of Oska demanding that the golf course be stopped
Same day they block the other road leading into the land. They had the same demands.
Later on Police came to tear down the blockade. Corporal Marcel Lemay died
9)Aborignal people continued to flock to the blockade to help their people other Native peoples all around hurt and destroyed things in their anger
10) RCMP were brought in but couldn't control the situation
11) August 14 Premier of Quebec invoked the National Defence Act which allowed him to deploy his army
12) September 26 the whole thing cleaned up and they burned their weapons and went back to their reserve.
Then Canada (the army) got fried by the world and media for our shocking behavior
