Sudan the i wish I could say beautiful

When I read about different places in the world it makes me very glad that I live in the country that I do. Because I would hate to live in Sudan. I'm sure their is worse places in  the world but this wouldn't be my first choice.
Britain colonized Sudan in 1881 and joined in colonizing it with the Egyptians in the yr. 1899 They closed their doors to each other so that the cultures wouldn't inter mix and blend in there nationalities. The rule between egypt and the brits would have been interesting and a little unnerving I admit. to completely different cultures thrust on you like that. I know that they stayed that way for several years between they gained their independence. The two cultures of the single country were quiet different the arabs and the more african people. the two have completely different live styles.  and in some ways maybe it was a good thing that they didn't intermix thing of all the problems from the different live styles.
Things changed however in the year 1956 Sudan gained their independence and there was problems. The closed door policy was abandoned  and the pieces started to fall. the Arabs had the main power and the more african people had to bend to there Islamic ways.  people who refused were treated badly, rights they should have had they were denied.
Religion... why is it one of the main reasons for war? people started to face many problems in the world.
When the military coup caused a loss of what little power the country sustained people were displaced and tried leaving Sudan there was 30000 and in the end 16000 the loss is almost half of them, it really is quite sicking.
What would I do? if the cultures don't mix, can't mix and can't get along without trying to force their believes on the other group? Separate it would be the only option because if you don't they will continually have a civil war. end it before it begins.

THE Potlatch

The Potlatch is a ceremony that the first nations used. Akin to our wedding receptions and baby showers that are given to show people that they have cause to rejoice.  It was a sign that others showed people around them that they were wealthy and had cause to celebrate.  It helped show the families social stasis to others to show how "popular" they were.
The ceremony had lots of food and goods and gave away gifts to there friends and family. They helped people create alliances between tribes that helped each other out during war times. The Pacific coast first nations group were the ones where the Potlatch ceremony original from.
The gifts they gave were renewed across the tribe when other people held Porlatch's. It kind of reminds me of a potluck but instead of bringing food to eat you are given something to go home with. they were always given gifts to mark different occasions.
Unfortunately Canada banned the potlatch ceremony because people would get to the point of complete poverty, waiting for someone else to hold a potlatch so they could continue.  They got banned at the same time that residential schools got put into Canada.
We hold parties but normaly the gifts are given not the other way around. But we still hold parties to honor the occasion.

In Canada our government has, in the past, made residential schools for first nations people. The schools themselves started around 1900’s, and surprisingly didn’t get abolished until 1996. America’s dark history is with slavery and racism to the blacks. These schools are the blacksheep  of Canada’s history.   The effects on some of children who were forced to attend doesn’t leave people with a happy feeling. The schools themselves were never a good idea. Or our idea of forcing them into “white” culture.

How we treated them is terrible, don’t get me wrong. The things that are said to have happen just make you want to shudder. Students began to disclose information that some of them had been beaten, starved and sexually assaulted. That just makes me feel sick.  The occasional student enjoyed their time there. Unfortunately most did not. the effects of these school completely depend on the student some students don't know how to function in our society. Some went through the school with out the problems of being assaulted.

The school buildings look sad and forbidding and I would not like to be one of the people who were stuck in the building. they were very strict in what they had to do. having no choice in any of the matters. the some of the teachers were determined to make the children's lives miserable and force them to live through things that just make me shudder. The schools were never a good idea. The Federal government thought differently.

Some of the children were able to move past the bad experiences that they had faced in school. others couldn't and still can't function in our modern society. Funny what we sent them away from friends and family to learn is the one thing that they are now incapable to do. they are now the people who are homeless on the park bench trying drugs so that they can move over the horrific experience that they had and be able to make a new life... maybe... someday.

So what do we think? the schools are gone and the people they were trying to "fix" are broken what were we trying to accomplish? People, All people in Canada now have the opportunity to believe what they want and to be able to make there own decisions on their education. the schools are gone forever now. The question is what are we going to do to help those who "broke" in the schools? We can try.

N.S.D. and the Lubicon

National Sorry day is the day that the government , put aside to apologize for what the past government had done by taking their children and siblings.  it was their way of apologizing and allowing, and giving back the lands of said indigenous peoples.
The government is currently trying to fix the wrongs that people in the past have done by apologizing and giving back their land. the Indigenous people are currently happy with the events and the apology that the gov. made to them to right the wrongs of the past.
The people who actually went through said, racism, aren't quite sure the government made it a good enough apology, even though it wouldn't' have been those who are in the government now however peace between the gov. and Indigenous people is better and less tense then it has previously.

Meanwhile the problems in our own Albertan province
For the past thirty years we have been digging unceremoniously on the land of the first nations, in particular the Lubicon. You asked what we could do and I say that we can compensate for money wise. We don't just decide to randomly pick on people  though. If they have oil we should be able to get it off the land, without tooooo much damage done to the environment.
truthfully I don't know what we should do. The gov. should compensate for what they have done though. that way they are following the humanity code.
I don't know what you want to know on this but it is all I got, sorry

The Crisis of the Banks

To sum up the problem with the banks I would say this: the earth is doomed so take out your life insurance. In the past we have had a nice stable economy. Where both banks and consumers have had a nice balance.  Now, now were in trouble. Banks all around us are in trouble they have lent too much money to people. Also people who shouldn’t have been trusted with loans took them and are currently crashing the economy. People are currently in an insolvent, owing more money than they own, and it’s starting to cause a problem.

Banks have lent money to different people all around, but the problem is they have lent so much money and people don’t have the jobs to pay it back. They no longer have the source where they got their money to pay. The banks can’t get rid of the mortgages they have because people can’t afford to buy it. Prices in things are sky rocketing but heading for a crash landing instead of breaking out of the atmosphere. Houses, T.V.’s Computers, the one thing that isn’t crashing is the gas prices! How do the banks stay afloat when everybody who loaned can’t pay the loan and nobody else is doing things that need loans. And other banks all around are knocking on their doors trying to get their money they loaned to the banks back.

The thing is the banks wanted to sell houses, so they could get the money from the payment, but people who qualified for  a good loan had already got what they wanted. But people are idiotic for money and so they lent money to people who wouldn’t be responsible for a loan. Now the economy is in trouble because the banks are stuck with houses that they went in dept to get and the economy is frozen.

The problem with are economy isn’t just in the United States or Canada it’s all over the world. Everybody is in so much dept it is insane! What are we going to do when everyone owes money and more money? It’s a chain reaction people owe money the bankers, who owe to the investors and what happens to the stock market when everybody can’t buy the value of things is dropping. The supply and demand concept is working like mad. Everyone is stuck from  each other.

The government is trying to help they really are but dumping more money into the banks is not the way I would do it. I know that the U.S. is very important in the economy. They are very stubborn what is the problem of letting the government take over the banks until they are up on their feet? To socialist? Everyone is suffering from this. They need to swallow their pride because this isn’t just their problem. It’s not like they are still getting a profit from buyers. I think that they can let the government  take over even if it is only for a little while.
